What Is E85 fuel?

-E85 stands for Ethanol 85, it is a fuel source that runs on 85% corn ethanol

-This fuel is, currently, available in 40 states

-The only state in New England selling E85 fuel is Massachusetts (and there is only one station there)

Why do we need E85 in Rhode Island, and what is being done to bring it here?

-E85 uses corn ethanol which is a renewable resource

-Numerous service stations in Rhode Island sell gasoline containing a whopping 90% petroleum

-By using less petroleum, E85 creates less environmental damage by emitting less CO2

-In Rhode Island, a state which experiences every season full-force, many families have SUV's and other gas guzzling machines.  E85 would reduce the amounts of petroleum used by these vehicles.

Will my car run on E85?

-Though more cars are being made E85 compatible every year, not every car can run on E85.  It is estimated that as of 2006 10% of American cars can run on this fuel.  To see if your car is compatible Click Here

What is Global Warming?

-Global Warming is a natural process that occurs when sunlight gets trapped by certain greenhouse gases and released back towards earth.  When too many of these gases are released into the atmosphere, too much sunlight is trapped and then reflected back on the Earth, causing a rise in temperature and a change in climate.  This process is known as global warming.  Sound confusing?  For more information Click Here and Here

What is this Repairing Rhode Island Project?

-This is a project which I started as my 2006 Type III PEGASUS project at LaSalle Academy in Providence, Rhode Island.  My goals are to get as many citizens as I can to sign a petition asking for Rhode Island legislators to bring an E85 retailer to Rhode Island as well as to approve a bill proposed in 2006 to Congress.  To see this form, click the "Links" tab on the side of this screen.

How can I help with this project?

-First of all, everyone has the ability to purchase FFVs (flexible fuel vehicles).  To find out more about FFV's, click the LINKS page.

-If you own a business where pamphlets can be easily displayed, contact me to receive 40 pamphlets from the NEVC (National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition) as well as a booklet explaining FFV's.  You can reach me by clicking the "Contact Us Page" under "Matthew Motta".

-Finally, signing my petition will greatly help influence Rhode Island legislators.  Visit the "Contact Us" page let us know if you would like to sign the petition.  If so I will do everything in my power to make sure you are able to put your John Hancock on it.

But above all, passing on this website will greatly help spread the word!!
